Continuing this year's Qiskit Fall Fest, Prof. Himadri Shekhar Dhar from the Department of Physics delivered a talk titled "Quantum Information in Hybrid Quantum Systems", exploring how quantum information is stored, transferred and protected across different physical platforms.
Abstract: Contemporary quantum technology relies on seamless information transfer across diverse physical platforms, often termed hybrid quantum systems. The talk explored the core mechanics of qubits and resonators, coherent quantum storage, and error protection in these systems.
About the speaker: Himadri Shekhar Dhar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, IIT Bombay. Prior to moving to Mumbai in 2021, he was a research assistant at Imperial College London, UK and a Lise-Meitner fellow at TU Wien, Vienna, Austria. His PhD is from JNU, New Delhi. The theoretical and computational research in his group at IIT Bombay lies on the interface of quantum information and computing, optics and many-body physics, and in recent years has focused on hybrid quantum systems, especially from the perspective of developing and optimising protocols for quantum memories and quantum metrology.
